Like all of you, I am profoundly nourished by meaning and connection.

For many years, I designed my life for purpose-centered work, but I sought out a larger meaning connected to life's patterns beyond my day-to-day experiences. I went on retreats, I traveled, I met wisdom keepers, I did ceremonies in nature and medicine journeys, and more. All these pursuits were fulfilling (and still are!), but I had an inner posture then that wisdom was "out there" and I had to go outside of my "normal" life to experience to find it.

Then I realized that all of life is a ceremony rich with mythic meaning — including mundane-seeming moments at work.

Having mythic awareness in my work enriches my daily life and makes me better at what I do. It is the fertile ground for Connection Consciousness. When tension arises, it helps me see people's wholeness and ask, "What is really going on here?" I listen underneath the content of each tension knowing it's rarely actually about budget, timing, or strategy — and essentially always about power, shadow, and our longing to embody greater wholeness. Without this understanding, we unconsciously hemorrhage life force in our teams and organizations by ignoring the most foundational territory. It's like pruning the branches when the issues are in the roots.

Work is one of the primary settings where our inner guidance attempts to live out our personal mythology and experience healing.

When we understand this, we're more conscious of the threads of power pulling us into our greater selves and the interpersonal dynamics that echo our earlier imprints, yearning for resolution. When we can see this layer of reality, not only do we grow faster and experience more personal ease, but our creations are more aligned with life's principles and we're more deft at the art of partnership.

I envision a future of work where leaders and teams have mythic awareness and power literacy as a cultural baseline.
